A Heartfelt Message from the Founder of Suriya Foundation

When we embarked on our journey with the Suriya Foundation, our initial spark was to address a pressing need in our community – providing essential groceries to disadvantaged families in Badulla. However, as we delved deeper into our mission, we uncovered a profound gap in support for children with disabilities, particularly outside the metropolitan areas like Colombo.

It became evident that these children were often overlooked, lacking the resources and attention they rightfully deserved. Determined to make a difference, we set out to create a place where every child, regardless of their abilities, felt safe, valued, and empowered to learn and grow.

Today, as we reflect on our progress, I am humbled and grateful to see how far we’ve come. With over 40 children under our care and the dedication of four special education teachers, we have built more than just a school – we have created a community of love, support, and endless possibilities.

But our journey is far from over. There are still countless children out there who need our help, who deserve a chance to thrive and shine. I invite you to join us in our dream, to be part of something truly transformative. Together, we can continue to break barriers, defy expectations, and build a brighter future for all children, regardless of their abilities.

A story of creating hope for special children

Suriya Foundation was founded by Jayani Suriyapperuma in May 2022, with her family's support, after realizing that funds intended to support special needs children were not being used properly, and there was a need for a caring home in the Uva province. Initially, the foundation provided necessities and medicine to five families with special children. Over time, it has grown to support 38 children and three teachers. Suriya Foundation aims to empower children with disabilities, helping them to reach their full potential. The Suriya Foundation's work has already touched the lives of many special children, but there is still much more to be done. With your support, we can continue to empower these children to reach their full potential and become productive members of society.

Help us in creating opportunities for every child to thrive.

Help us empower children with disabilities to reach their full potential and become productive members of society. Many of these children are outcasted in normal school settings and are cared for by grandparents. With your support, we can build a foundation that provides essential resources and support to enable them to lead fulfilling lives.
